The Phoenix City Council has approved the Gila Foothills development, a nearly 300-acre master-planned project in Laveen Village. This development will feature a 50-acre resort, electric vehicle campus, hospital, housing, and retail spaces. The project faced initial opposition but gained unanimous support after extensive negotiations and modifications. Gila Foothills will include 1,200 housing units, with the potential to expand to 2,200 units if additional amenities are provided. The development is expected to generate significant tax revenue and include Laveen’s first trailhead into South Mountain Park. This approval is part of broader efforts to transform land along Loop 202 into a major technology corridor.
