A new commercial retail center named Avalon Ranch is set to be developed on a 12-acre plot in Mesa, approved by the Planning and Zoning Commission. Located at Power and Elliot roads, it will feature seven lots, with tenants such as Aldi grocery store, EOS Fitness, 7-Eleven, and Valvoline Auto Center. Avalon Development, based in Scottsdale, acquired the land for $7.2 million in June 2023. The development is adjacent to Cannon Beach, a 37-acre surf park and mixed-use project. Additionally, two four-story, extended-stay hotels, Extended Stay America and StudioRes by Marriott, were approved for construction on Greenfield Road, adding a combined total of 248 hotel rooms to the area. These projects were also part of the April 24 approvals by the Planning and Zoning Commission, along with the second phase of Google’s office and data center campus in southeast Mesa.
