Magna International is partnering with Waymo, a subsidiary of Alphabet Inc., at its new manufacturing facility in Mesa, Arizona. The facility will integrate Waymo’s fully autonomous driving technology into electric Jaguar SUVs as part of Waymo’s expansion. Magna is developing a 230,000-square-foot space in Mesa’s Power Industrial Park for this purpose. Waymo has been expanding its autonomous ride-hailing services in Phoenix, which remains its largest market, and recently extended its service area by 90 square miles. The company has also begun offering 24/7 service to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and completed over two million fully autonomous paid rides across all markets. Waymo’s continued growth includes plans to launch in Austin, Texas, later this year.
