Amazon has purchased a 220-acre site in Laveen, Arizona, for $277 million, likely for a new data center campus. The land was bought through Amazon Data Services and is part of a growing industrial corridor that the city of Phoenix hopes to develop as a tech hub. The site is located near Loop 202, and Amazon’s Web Services division continues to evaluate locations based on customer demand. Amazon has several projects in the region, including data centers in Mesa and facilities in the West Valley. This acquisition aligns with other major data center developments in Phoenix, including recent purchases by Microsoft and QTS Realty Trust. Phoenix is currently the second-largest U.S. market for planned data center growth.
